The World Stage returned to The Temple for the Sunday Jazz Vesper Service Sunday, September 11th featuring Latif & the World Stage Jazz Workshop Ensemble. The ensemble went through decades of wonderful world of jazz tunes like Chelsea Bridge, Imagination, Georgia, Sidewinder, It's Only a Paper Moon, Chameleon, among many others.
Each month The Temple features various artists who come to praise The Lord. Examples of artists who have brought their talents are Abraham Laboriel, Justo Almario, Roberto Miranda, mark Cargill, Patrice Quinn, Jaques Lesure, Rhonda Benin, Bobbie Lee Anderson, Dwight Trible, Horace Tapscott, and Elliot Caine to name a few. We have had poets, rappers, and dancers who have used their talents to praise Him in accordance with Psalms 150.
We extend our invitation to all on the second Sunday of every month and we're inviting you!
Each Tuesday evening at
7:00 p.m., Christ Our Redeemer & Bryant Temple AME Churches present a bible study class entitled Koinonia - The Gathering. It is a contemporary study of ancient text and religious thought with reflections from the 21st Milennium. The bible study features four dynamic leaders:
Rev. Dr. Cecil "Chip" Murray, Professor at the USC Center for Religion and Culture;
Rev. Dr. Monica Coleman, Assistant Professor at Claremont School of Theology; Rev. Mark Whitlock, Pastor of Christ Our Redeemer Church; and,
Rev. Dr. Clyde W. Oden, Pastor of Bryant Temple AME Church. The new theme is Friendship, Fellowship and Forgiveness.
Each week each of the lecturers speak about topics from different perspectives. Each unique perspective offers approaches that provoke thought which could possibly stimulate complex emotions within. Afterwards there is a question and answer period where anyone attending can ask topic-related questions.
As Christians we are taught to respect the thoughts and opinions of others as we approach topics on which others may have strong opinions. The atmosphere is welcoming, encouraging, and stimulating.
Bible Study will continue throughout Fall/2011. Classes are open to anyone.
